CMPN Board of Directors

Cheryl Petruk
Executive Director

Cheryl’s role of Executive Director of the Canadian MPN Research Foundation is a natural fit. Cheryl is a graduate of the Bachelor of Management Program of University of Lethbridge, and her MBA in Community Economic Development from Cape Breton University.

Cheryl has served the non-profit community for many years and is very fluent in the organizational framework of non-profits. Cheryl has come to the MPN community as a caregiver to her late husband Eugene who was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia in 1992 and progressed to MF in 2010. Throughout Eugene’s journey, Cheryl wanted to ensure that mpn patients received the most up to date information and resources that they could have to navigate their journey with an MPN Blood Cancer. Cheryl is active on the Board of Directors of the MPN Research Foundation in Chicago, the MPN Advocates Network based out of Europe. Cheryl is a sought-after speaker at many events bringing the patient voice to the forefront of the discussion of patient centricity.

Cheryl brings a combination of her business skills and her not for profit background to an organization that she is passionate about serving! Cheryl looks forward to working with the Board and the Medical Advisory committee in pursuit of research in Canada for MPN blood cancers to look at better treatment options and of course a cure!
